Whitney is the NC Unsheltered Access Coordinator for Region 11; which covers Camden, Chowan, Currituck, Dare, Gates, Hertford, Hyde, Pasquotank, Perquimans, and Tyrrell Counties. She is the Founder & Director of Daughters of Zion Restoration Inc., providing support and guidance in the services of this organization.
Shanika Smith is a Qualified Mental Health Professional, Certified Substance Abuse Counselor and life Coach. Shanika has earned her Bachelor's degree at Old Dominion University in Human Service- Counseling and presently pursuing a Master's Degree at Regent University in Counseling. She has previously volunteered at other homeless shelters as a coordinator. Shanika is passionate about providing a safe place for those who receive her services, who are emotionally unhealthy and need to release the trauma. Her passion and specialty are working with women from all walks of life, and individuals who struggle with overcoming unhealthy patterns of any form, as a mean to cope from pain or fear.
Shanika has a passion to serve the homeless because of experiencing hardships in life and overcoming. Shanika understands to start over in various areas of life with limited resources. Shanika views herself as a road map toward healing from others who need that support and helping hand to get to where they need to be in life. Shanika's goal is to be a bridge for those who receive her services to gain resources, and knowledge needed, so that they may become self- sufficient in maintaining and thriving every day.
